Maharaja Surajmal Centre for Research & Publication

Surajmal Memorial Education Society intends to explore and conduct research on different aspects of the history and culture of the Jat community. For this purpose the Society had established Maharaja Surajmal Centre for Research and Publication in 1999 which has been undertaking the collection, preservation and publication of material on rural heritage, especially relating to the life and role of peasants in national endeavours. The Centre has published 33 books which include research works of eminent scholars, Hindi translation of the prominent works and reprinting of the famous works on the history, culture and social life of the Jat community and the proceedings of National Seminars organized by the Society from time to time.

The Society organizes National Seminars on various occasions, which have become a regular feature of the activities of the Research Centre. So far 15 National Seminars had been organized which had been attended by eminent scholars from every nook and corner of India to present their research papers.

Through its endeavour, Maharaja Surajmal Centre for Research and Publication has attained the status of premier research institute and the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi has approved it in 2006 as a recognised institute for research projects in history. The Centre is equipped with a good library and collection of manuscripts and also provides boarding and lodging facilities to the research scholars. The scholars can utilize the services of the Research Centre as an institute of affiliation for their research projects submitted to the Indian Council of Historical Research.

The Centre, headed by Dr. Rajendra Kumar as Director, is continuing search for newer material on the history of the Jats with deep insight to fill the gaps in it.
